New Mexico State Speech & Debate Championship
Fri–Sat, February 23rd-24th (2/23-2/24)
The culmination of our local competitive season ends with the New Mexico State Speech & Debate Championship hosted at the V. Sue Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Students compete in their main Speech and/or Debate events in a traditional two-day tournament (State Congress is held during a different weekend). This means competitors will have preliminary rounds before breaking to additional elimination rounds featuring the top-performing students. The top-placing students in elimination rounds will receive awards. Unlike other tournaments, this championship will also recognize the top speaker in each debate event and a few special year-end awards (you read about the State Award Descriptions here).
This is a great final opportunity for students to compete locally this year and round out their season on the New Mexico circuit!
Specific event information, schedule, and the tournament invitation are available via the Tabroom.com link:
Registration is due no later than Tuesday, 2/13 at 4:00pm.
NOTE: YOU MUST have competed at least once already (in any event) this season in order to compete at this tournament.
If this is a problem for you, reach out to Ms. Matton to explain your situation and plan to compete in at least one Springboard Scrimmage prior to the tournament.
