Navajo Prep — Atsá Invitational

Fri–Sat, October 25–26th (10/25 – 10/26)

The second tournament of our season featuring Speech & Congress events only continues with the Navajo Prep Atsá Invitational in Farmington, New Mexico.

Students compete in either a Speech event, Congressional Debate, or, the supplemental event “Extemp Debate” in a single-day round-robin style tournament. This means Speech competitors will have FOUR preliminary rounds (Congress will have 2 sessions, morning and afternoon) and awards will be based on those cumulative performances rather than break into additional elimination rounds. All competition will occur on Saturday only — we will travel to Farmington on Friday evening to partake in the Diné Cultural Celebration hosted by Navajo Prep.

This is a great tournament for anyone brand new to Debate and wanting to learn core Debate structures in an easier format as well as for anyone wanting to try more Speech! Students interested in eventually pursuing national circuit travel tournaments are encouraged to attend to get adjusted to our norms around travel.

This is also one of four total NMSDA tournaments available during the Fall Semester.

If you would like to get additional practice before this tournament, consider signing up for one of the NSDA Springboard Scrimmages on a Tuesday or Thursday (online).

  • There are performances of the Fall Play on Friday and Saturday, 10/25 and 10/26. Alternate performances are also available the weekend prior.
