La Cueva Cave Classic 2026
Fri–Sat, January 16th–17th (1/16–1/17)
The fifth NMSDA tournament begins in Semester 2 with the La Cueva Cave Classic hosted by LCHS in Albuquerque, NM.
Students compete in their main Speech or Debate events (no Congress) in a traditional two-day tournament. Speech and Debate competitors will have three and four rounds of prelims, respectively, before advancing to elimination rounds. Double-entry within Speech or across Debate/Speech is available and encouraged! (exception: no double-entry between policy and extemp)
This is the penultimate local tournament of the year before the State Championship at the end of February, and a great way to to jump-start the Semester 2 competitions.

Tournament falls the weekend after the ASU tournament — competitors should be mindful of back-to-back tournament weekends!
